Center for Naotechnology Receives $10M

The Center for Nanotechnology is happy to announce after fierce competition the establishment of the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN). Headed by Cornell and Stanford, the University of Washington is joining a partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Howard University, North Carolina State University, Pennsylvania State University, UC Santa Barbara, U. Michigan, U. Minnesota, U. New Mexico, and U. Texas at Austin. Being an active participant, this network will bring $10M to the Center of Nanotechnology (CNT) at the University of Washington over the next ten years.

The primary objective and role for the University of Washington within this network is to build an interface between nanotechnology and the biomedical community. This includes a major expansion of our Nanotech User Facility with equipment and training geared to accelerate the use of nanotech tools in biomedical research, and to learn how to better engineer at the nanoscale through the study of biological systems.
