| The UWs Center for Nanotechnology is sponsoring a Research Experience for Teachers opportunity to enable middle or high school teachers to immerse themselves in a nanoscale science/technology lab for two weeks and develop educational materials to take back to the classrooms. You will work closely with a faculty mentor and one or more postdoctoral fellows or graduate students to learn cutting edge techniques, investigate a current problem, etc. Some background lectures will help familiarize you with the scope of nanoscale research at the UW. The program runs from July 28 - August 8, 2008. You must commit to being present all day (~8 AM - 5 PM) on all 10 work days (M-F) during this period. Some outside readings may be required also. A $1,000 stipend will be provided on the successful completion of the project (includes submission of a completed educational module); $300 in project supplies will be available to support the creation of the educational materials. Graduate credits (3)or clock hours will be provided. Note that some of the aspects of this program may be carried out collaboratively with those of the UW GEMSEC RET program, BioNano 2008. (You may apply to both programs if you wish.)
