The Graduate Award and Fellowship Program aims to recruit the best graduate students around the world and financially support them to pursue innovative research projects in nanoscale science and technology at UW.  The Program provides annual support on a competitive basis.  The recipients must reapply awards and fellowships annually for a maximum support of two or three years.  The annual competition takes place during the spring quarter.

  • Nanotechnology Graduate Research Awards support innovative graduate research projects in nanoscale science or nanotechnology through funding from the University of Washington Initiatives Fund (UIF). Applicants should have excellent academic records. UIF awards are provided for a maximum of two years. (more information)

  • Jonsson International Exchange Fellowships in an effort to initiate collaborations in Nanoscience, Photonics and related fields between the University of Washington (UW) and Linköping University (LiU) in Sweden, we have initiated new fellowships for international research experiences at Linköping University, Sweden. The fellowships will fund the salaries and travel expenses for UW graduate students and postdocs to go to Linköping University for one or more quarters to do research with a professor there in nanoscience, photonics or related fields. Ideally these would be done in a way that the UW professor here also will get involved, so that it can serve to seed-fund longer-term collaborations between UW professors and LiU researchers.
