Nanotechnology Mentorship ProgramProgram
"A mentor is an individual who has made a personal commitment to advance a chosen field by facilitating other individuals' careers through guidance, wisdom and expertise" Mission Statement: To create a mutually beneficial relationship between mentor and mentee, thus enabling the field of Nanotechnology to build a pool of talent to enhance Nanotechnology's impact on society. The Nanotechnology Mentorship Program was Developed in the fall of 2001 in cooperation with The Center for Nanotechnology and Center for Workforce Development. Its primary objective is to serve the student population through positive social, profes sional, and academic networking, occupational guidance, student retention, informational programs and providing students with positive role models. In addition, the mentorship program serves a diverse student population including graduate students from nine interdisciplinary fields. Students are encouraged to participate in the multi-faceted aspects of the program, which are comprised of the mentor and mentee relationship, industry speakers and department luncheons.
