Call for Abstracts - Nanoscale Science and Technology Workshop 2004

The Center for Nanotechnology at the University of Washington and Pacific Northwest National Lab jointly present the 4th Nanoscale Science and Technology Workshop 2004 at Kane Hall - 210 on UW campus Thursday, September 16 and Friday, September 17, 2004. UW faculty, students, PNNL scientists and participants from other institutions will share their leading edge research in the following categories:

1. Nanostructured Materials and Nanophotonics

a. Shape Controlled Nanostructured Materials - wires, tubes, belts, etc.
b. Chemically functionalized nanoparticles
c. Nanomagnetic particles
d. Nanophotonics
2. Nanobiotech and Nanomedicine
a. Nanoparticles in molecular imaging
b. Biological Nanosystems
c. Enzyme catalysis
3. Nanocatalysis - experiment and theory

4. Nanotechnology and Environment

a. H2 storage and conversion
b. nanoparticles - safety and transport issues
5. Poster session

Cash prizes for the best graduate student poster presentations sponsored by PNNL

Please submit your abstracts to Dr. Dong Qin at dqin@u.washington.edu by August 1, 2004. Please include the following information to the abstract:

1. Highlight the presenter among the authors
2. Include affiliation
3. Indicate the type of presentation - oral or poster
4. Apply for graduate student competition
5. Limit abstract to NO more than 500 words
